Winston-Salem, NC -- Thursday morning an employee with Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools (WSFCS) was found dead near the school where he worked in some woods.
Friday, the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office said Paul Wilkins, 35 died from injuries he received after falling from a tree.
Wilkins was a PE Teacher and Athletic Director for Flat Rock Middle School. Wilkins worked with for the school system for 12 years. He started in August of 2000, Runge said.
He started his career with the school system at Hanes Middle. He also worked at Walkertown Middle before going to work at Flat Rock Middle School.
Chris Rung with WSFCS said Flat Rock Middle opened in August of 2009 and Wilkins was part of the new staff.
On behalf of the school system, Runge gave this statement: "We are deeply sadden by the loss of Paul Wilkins. Our concerns now are for his immediate family and his larger family at Flat Rock Middle."
Wilkins body was found behind Flat Rock Middle in a wooded area off Ebert. He was reported missing and around 11:30am, the sheriff's department assisted the Winston-Salem Police Department with the search.
The Forsyth County community is already gone in to action to help Wilkins' family. Stephpanie Wild contacted WFMY News 2 and sent the following information regarding a fund setup for the family.
Memorial Service for Wilkins: Monday, Aug. 13, at 1pm at River Oaks Community Church. The visitation will be held immediately following the service.
Statement: In an effort to continue helping the Wilkins family, River Oaks Community Church is collecting funds to be used for the Wilkins immediate and long-term needs after the tragic death of Aaron a beloved husband, father, mentor and coach to many in our community.
