(Winston-Salem, NC) -- The WSPD responded to a report of shots fired and subjects fighting near 1 Salem Gardens Drive, shortly after 2AM this (Wednesday) morning.
When officers arrived, the victim, Mark Peters, told them that the incident resulted from an altercation with someone he had met a few days ago. On this date, Mr. Peters was a passenger in a friend's vehicle. The suspect drove up in another vehicle and displayed a handgun. Peters got out of the vehicle he was in and ran away. The suspect then discharged the gun. No one was injured as a result of the gunshots.
The two vehicles then became involved in a collision. However, the suspect left the scene prior to police arrival. Mr. Peters was transported to Forsyth Hospital for non-life threatening injuries sustained in the traffic collision.
