Flooding In Greensboro Force Adults, Children From Apts

Greensboro, NC-- An evening storm brought thunder, lightning and plenty of rain.

The downpour prompted the National Weather Service to issue flash flood warnings in several counties across the Triad.

In Greensboro flooding was reported on Highway 29 North in several areas, including under the Huffine Mill Rd bridge and near E. Wendover. Flooding was also reported on W. Market St. near Sandy Ridge Rd.

Greensboro Police Watch Operation said they also received reports of flooding at an apartment building on Hahns Lane. Greensboro fire said they evacuated six units displacing 14 adults and 7 children.

The Red Cross was called out to assist in finding them a place for the night. One tenant told WFMY he has gone through this before and was concerned about mold, because he has a small child.

By 9pm Thursday the Davidson County Airport in Lexington received 1.73" of rain. The Reidsville Airport also reported nearly an inch of rain before it began to taper off late Wednesday night.
