Wadesboro Man Drowns In Jet Ski Accident

(M0ntgomery County, NC)  --  On Wednesday, August 22 at 8:12 p.m., the Montgomery County 911 Center received a call from a male that witnessed a drowning.

The witness told authorities that a male and female were on a jet ski and it flipped over throwing both from the jet ski. The female passenger was able to swim to safety at Lilly's Bridge Boat Landing on Lake Tillery. 

The man operating the jet ski was said to be screaming for help, went under and never surfaced again. Neither the victim nor female rider was wearing a life jacket. 

Area fisherman marked the general area where the accident occurred while waiting for Rescue to arrive.

The Montgomery County Rescue used sonar technology and other techniques to recover the body around 12:45 a.m. The body was transported to FirstHealth of the Carolina Montgomery Memorial and will be sent to Chapel Hill Thursday morning for an autopsy. NC Wildlife will be completing the investigation.

The victim was identified as 30-year-old Roderick Skyyler Polk from Wadesboro, NC.
