GPD Investigates High Point Officer-Involved Car Accident

HIGH POINT -- Police are investigating an officer-involved car accident in High Point.

A captain with High Point Police tells News 2 two High Point Police officers collided with a mini-van Saturday evening at the intersection of Kivett Drive and Hamilton Street.

The van was driven by Habonimana Pascal. 

 

The cause of the accident is unknown and it's unclear who is responsible but we do know more about the officers involved.

The two officers are a part of a field training team. One officer is a field training instructor, and the other is a new officer.

The field training program is a 14 weeks and its required for all new officers.

The Greensboro Police Department is investigating this accident but during the course of this investigation, the two officers will stay on duty.

The officer's names have not been released. Police have not said which officer was driving but both were taken to the hospital and have since been released.

Pascal was airlifted to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center where they are being treated.

UPDATE: Pascal was treated and released from Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center Sunday. A spokesperson at the hospital says he did not have any surgeries and is doing fine.

The two other passengers in Pascal's car are juveniles and were taken to High Point Regional where they are still being treated.
