Reidsville, NC -- Deputies arrested a man they say beat his own mother Monday.
Joseph Woodrow "J.W." Turner, 46, is charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury on Elsie Turner, his 77-year-old mother.
Deputies found the mother lying outside her home with cuts on her face. She was taken to Moses Cone Hospital for treatment.
Investigators haven't said what caused Turner to attack his mother.
Turner is also charged with resisting a public officer, being drunk and disruptive and interfering with emergency communication, according to the Sheriff's office.
He's been placed in the Rockingham County Jail under an $80,000 secured bond. Turner is set to make his first court appearance Oct. 2.
