Greensboro, NC - More than 100 dogs, kittens, parrots, and horses were rescued from a hoarding situation in Person County, NC on Tuesday night according to the Guilford County Animal Shelter.

Thirty-nine horses and 70 dogs, cats and birds were resuced according to authorities.

About 60 of the dogs, kittens and parrots are in the Guilford County Animal Shelter in search of new homes.

The Person County Sheriff's Office, Person County Animal Control, the Guilford County Animal Shelter and several other animal advocacy groups assisted in the rescue in Rougemont, NC.

The animals were found living in deplorable conditions, according to Marsha Williams, Director of the Guilford County Animal Shelter, and are now undergoing health evaluations before they will be ready for adoption.

The horses are being held at a rescue farm.

All of the animals were surrendered by the owners.

After a ten day incubation period, some of the animals will be ready for adoption.
