(Winston-Salem, NC)  --  Winston-Salem Police Department responded to Southbound US 52 approximately 1 mile south of Bethania-Rural Hall Road reference an overturned tractor trailer.

When police arrived, the driver, 47-year-old Everette William Lumsden Jr. was being assisted by several other truck drivers that had stopped to help.

Mr. Lumsden (trucks sole occupant) had significant injuries but was alert and his injuries appear to not be life threatening and was treated at the scene and transported to Baptist Hospital for treatment.

The tractor trailer left the highway to the right, went down a steep embankment and overturned. The tractor trailer was carrying non-hazardous materials. Department of Transportation personnel responded to the scene.

The process of getting the tractor trailer from its present position will take a substantial amount of time. US 52 Southbound will fluctuate between being opened and closed during this process.

Motorists are asked to use caution while travelling through the area as there will be traffic slowdowns and personnel working to clear the scene.

It appears that fatigue is the contributing factor in this accident.
