Burnece Walker Brunson, WKRN
Nashville, TN-- One of the Tennessee State University (TSU) cheerleaders at the homecoming game Saturday will be somewhat more experienced than the others.
That's because 97 year-old Burnece Walker Brunson first cheered with the Tigers in 1934.
Brunson told WKRN-TV she was a member of the university's cheerleading squad in 1934-35.
And here in 2012, Brunson will suit up Saturday for TSU's centennial homecoming game against Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
Brunson said she won't be doing back flips, cart wheels or be part of a pyramid. She never did. Cheerleaders didn't do what Brunson calls that "fancy stuff" back then.
This won't be the first encore for Brunson. The retired schoolteacher got back into uniform for the 2003 TSU homecoming, when she was a young 87 years old.
