Winston-Salem, NC -- The police and fire departments are investigating a house fire that killed one woman early Sunday.
Crews arrived on the scene at 5454 Shattalon Dr. around 2 a.m. They learned a woman, Kimerly Sprinkle Harkey, was still inside the home, according to police.
Firefighters made it inside and found Harkey unconscious. They were unable to revive her on the scene.
Harkey was later pronounced dead at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.
Investigators are still looking into this fire, but say it appears to be an accident.
