Alamance County, NC -- Mebane City Council member, and Mayor Pro Tem, Patty Philipps, has been charged with driving while impaired.
Highway Patrol Troopers tell WFMY News 2 they received a call from a concerned citizen early Saturday morning and stopped Philipps on Interstate 40 in Burlington.
Troopers said Philipps blew a .15 percent blood alcohol level on a Breathalyzer test. The legal limit in North Carolina is .08 percent.
Troopers arrested Philipps at the scene. She was later released on bond.
Philipps, a Democrat, is running for the District 63 seat in the North Carolina House of Representatives.
WFMY News 2 called Philipps for comment and she said, "On October 6, 2012, I was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. I made a serious mistake. I am deeply sorry and apologize to my family, friends, and community."
