Winston-Salem, NC-- Almost a year ago, a driver hit and seriously injured a woman who worked at Wake Forest. The driver of the vehicle didn't stop and police are still trying to solve the crime.

The Winston-Salem Police Department and the Wake Forest University Police Department continue to work together in an effort to solve the crime.

The accident happened around 7;00pm on December 8, 2011. Investigators said Colleen Brehm was hit as she crossed Wake Forest Road near Wait Chapel. She was walking toward Parking Lot Q, located directly across from the chapel. Witnesses told police a sport utility or a crossover utility vehicle, light in color, may have hit her. Officers believe the vehicle had been driven out of the parking lot moments before the collision.

A witness told Wake Forest Police Investigators that the unidentified driver of the vehicle drove away immediately after the collision. Police are also working to identify the passengers in the vehicle. The exact number of passengers is undetermined.

Brehm suffered serious injuries and was admitted to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center where she spent several days. Brehm worked with Aramark, which provides dining services to the university.
