Police say that when they got there they were able to determine that three people had been on Norfolk Southern railroad property, illegally. Police say an Amtrak train hit one of the trespassers.
Emergency workers took Tara A. Wimbish, 26, of Burlington to the hospital where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Police say she has been released.
The other two people identified as Wimbish, Tammy L. Baxter, 27 and Brandon J. Elms have all been charged with trespassing on railroad property.
The collision meant an hour delay for the train and its passengers. The tracks had to be shut down for the same amount of time.
