Greensboro, NC -- Thursday, some workers in Greensboro received news that by the end of next year they'll be out of a job.
TE Connectivity delivered that news to its almost 700 employees. The company is closing a plant on Piedmont Triad Parkway in Greensboro.
Tom Peacock with TE Connectivity tells WFMY News 2 that the plant closing will affect 670 people total. Peacock said 620 will actually lose their jobs and 50 will be transferred to other facilities in Greensboro.
Connectors for appliances such as stoves and refrigerators are manufactured at the Piedmont Parkway Plant, according to Peacock.
The first round of layoffs are scheduled for January 2013 and by December the entire plant will be closed.
TE Connectivity has two other plants in Greensboro and one in Winston-Salem.
