Fayetteville, NC -- An attempted bank robbery has been thwarted in Fayetteville as the would-be robber got into a fight with a customer.
The Fayetteville Observer reported (http://bit.ly/U70Fc6) an unidentified man tried to rob a Wells Fargo branch Friday morning after showing a weapon. But at some point, authorities say the man struggled with a bank customer, dropped the weapon and ran away before he could get any money.
Witnesses described the robber as a white man between the ages of 18 and 22, about 5-foot-8 or 5-foot-9 and slender. Police said they are investigating the possibility that the man may be involved in other recent bank robberies in the area.
