Garner, NC -- Police are investigating a drive-by shooting that left one woman dead and injured her mother at a Garner apartment complex Friday night.

Investigators says the shooting happened around 9:30 p.m.

Latoya McNeil, 31, died at the scene of the shooting. EMS transported her 48-year-old mother, Angela Harding, to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The women lived at the apartment complex and were getting out of a car when someone shot them, police say. There was also a child in the car, but it wasn't hurt.

Police say someone told them they saw two men running from the scene after they heard shots fired.
