Lexington, NC-- Deputies in Davidson County stopped a man for a traffic violation but ended up charging him with sex offenses.
According to a news release, Christopher Minerd was stopped by deputies for a traffic violation on Tuesday. When they approached Minerd's car, they found a 14 year-old girl in the car with him.
The teenager told deputies that she and Minerd, who is a 21 year-old, had been having sexual relations.
Detectives further investigated the case and charged Minerd with: Statutory Rape, Statutory Sex Offense, and Indecent Liberties with a Child.
Minerd's bond was set at $100, 000.00. He remains in the Davidson County Detention Center.
