Asheville, NC-- City police are investigating a shooting this afternoon at a McDonald's restaurant in West Asheville.
The incident happened shortly after 12:30 p.m. at McDonald's on Smoky Park Highway near Interstate 40 exit 44, Asheville police Sgt. Dave Romick said.
A male victim who suffered a gunshot wound was transported to Mission Hospital, but Romick did not know the extent of the man's injury.
A possible suspect is being detained but no one has been arrested.
Schools in Buncombe County Schools' Enka district were put on a brief lockdown in the wake of the shooting, spokeswoman Jan Blunt said. The lockdown was lifted at 1:40 p.m.
