N.C. Film Office Spent $376 Million Statewide, Created 20,000 Jobs In 2012

Raleigh, NC  -- According to numbers released  by the NC Film Office, the Tarheel State had a record breaking year in the film industry.

Year-end numbers show that film productions in NC had a direct in-state spend in excess of $376 million. Not only that, but the industry in our state opened the door to over 20,000 jobs for locals.

In comparison, 2011 numbers were record breaking as well, with $220 million in spending and 3,300 crew positions.

Productions that had a NC connection included (but not limited to):

  • Iron Man
  • Homeland
  • You Are Here
  • The Bachelorette
  • Safe Haven
  • We're The Millers

Much of the success of the film industry in NC is attributed to a tax incentive in which productions receive a 25 percent credit bas on their in-state spending.
