Raleigh, NC -- According to numbers released by the NC Film Office, the Tarheel State had a record breaking year in the film industry.
Year-end numbers show that film productions in NC had a direct in-state spend in excess of $376 million. Not only that, but the industry in our state opened the door to over 20,000 jobs for locals.
In comparison, 2011 numbers were record breaking as well, with $220 million in spending and 3,300 crew positions.
Productions that had a NC connection included (but not limited to):
- Iron Man
- You Are Here
- The Bachelorette
- Safe Haven
- We're The Millers
Much of the success of the film industry in NC is attributed to a tax incentive in which productions receive a 25 percent credit bas on their in-state spending.
