Winston-Salem, NC -- The ex-wife of a former minor league baseball team owner settled a $20 million lawsuit against a woman she accused of destroying her marriage, according to the Associated Press.
Veronica Filipowski sued Melissa Oliver under the alienation-of-affection law; Oliver's attorney said Friday the two sides settled for $107,500 before the judge issued a verdict in the non-jury trial.
Prior to the settlement, Oliver had filed complaints in state and federal courts, challenging the state's alienation-of-affection law on privacy grounds.
The state court of appeals ruled against Oliver earlier this year.
Filipowski claims she learned about the affair in October 2006 after Oliver left a voicemail for her then-husband, Andrew "Flip" Filipowski, former owner of the Winston-Salem Dash.
