Asheville, NC-- Asheville police have identified two pedestrians who were struck and killed by vehicles in separate weekend incidents.

The Asheville Citizen-Times reported that 41-year-old Mark Anthony Haynie of Asheville died Saturday after being struck by a Toyota pickup truck at 6:08 p.m.

Asheville police Sgt. Michael Lamb says Haynie, who was homeless, was crossing Airport Road near Bojangles and was not using a crosswalk.

Minutes later, a second accident was reported where 79-year-old Konstantinos Katsigiannis of Asheville was struck by a Honda sedan as he attempted to cross Patton Avenue near Little Caesars Pizza. Lamb said Katsigiannis was also not using a crosswalk.

Lamb said no charges will be filed against the drivers in either case.
