Winston-Salem, NC -- A nonprofit organization is working with other groups to rehabilitate apartments once destined for demolition and turn them into affordable housing for the homeless, mainly veterans.
The Winston-Salem Journal reported reported that Whole Man Ministries of North Carolina has purchased two duplexes from a bank to renovate them for homeless veterans.
The buildings will renovate the buildings, which had been on the City of Winston-Salem's demolition list. And the organization wants to buy three more buildings on the same street, also for homeless veterans and people who are chronically homeless.
Whole Man Ministries Executive Director Barry Washington estimates that the total cost to renovate the two buildings will be $70,000.
