Greensboro, NC -- A new solar panel project could mean jobs for 75 construction workers in the Triad.
North Carolina-based Strata Solar is hiring construction workers with backgrounds in electric contracting for an upcoming solar farm project. Jobs for the project will include electrical work, installing conduit, pulling cables and terminating cables inside electrical equipment.
Strata Solar also needs workers who can operate heavy equipment, excavators, forklifts and graders.
The 75 workers will make between $9 and $10 an hour, depending on each employee's previous experience. The company says it will give preference to veterans.
Strata Solar will hold a job fair Tuesday, May 28, at the Guilford County Department of Social Services. DSS is located at 1203 Maple St. in Greensboro.
Employers will interview and hire applicants on the same day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The company asks that all applicants bring two forms of identification (N.C. drivers license, ID or Social Security card) as well as a hard copy of the job application.
You can download the application at youthchamber.org.
The jobs were made available through a partnership between Strata Solar, the National Youth Chamber of Commerce, the N.C. Department of Labor and the Guilford County Department of Social Services.
