Greensboro, N.C. -- You now have access to a new and bigger Emergency Room at Cone Health in Greensboro.
The new tower is the largest construction project in the hospital's 60-year history.
It features not only a bigger ER with 78 treatment areas but also 16, large modern operating rooms, and 96 private rooms. Patient rooms will not only be larger but will have natural light and less noise from its design in a oval shape. Rooms are also not directly in front of each other which will help decrease noise and promote patient recovery. The tower is also "green" with 53 solar panel on the roof to heat water.
The North Tower will become the main entrance to the hospital in January. It cost $200 million to build.
Cone Health also has another project to renovate 80,000 square feet inside another area of the hospital. That work should be complete by 2015.
