ELON, N.C. -- Two buildings on Elon University's campus were temporarily closed Tuesday morning after a construction worker cut a gas line, according to Elon University Police.
Moseley Center and Lakeside Dining were evacuated as a precaution, but they are now open.
WFMY News 2 listened to scanners and heard first responders say winds carried the gas, which could be smelled from the backside of the fine arts building.
A tweet from police said the accident happened at Global Neighborhood construction site. Students were cautioned to stay out of the buildings, but were welcomed back shortly after that notice was tweeted.
