CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- A second bike rider has died after being struck near Chapel Hill last week.
University of North Carolina Hospitals spokesman Tom Hughes said 40-year-old Alexandra Nicole Simou of Carrboro died Sunday from injuries suffered.
Simou and 41-year-old Ivin Levander Scurlock of Carrboro were riding their bikes south on U.S. 15-501 around 11:30 p.m. Thursday just south of Chapel Hill when they were hit from behind.
Scurlock died at the scene immediately after the crash.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol is still looking for the car that hit the riders. Troopers think the car has front-end and windshield damage.
