Asheboro, NC -- The Randolph County school system will begin a search for a new superintendent after Donald Andrews announced he'll step down at the end of the 2012-2013 school year.
Andrews made the announcement in a news conference Monday. He said he made the decision privately back in April. Andrews informed the Board of Education of his decision at the September monthly meeting.
Here's part of the statement Andrews released on his decision: "I want to express my deepest gratitude for the opportunity to have served the children of Randolph County Schools for the past 8 years. Randolph County Schools has my commitment to continue to be diligent in my position until retirement and make every effort for a smooth transition."
Andrews' last day will be June 30, 2013.
