GREENSBORO - Film productions in North Carolina has already eclipsed 2011's record setting numbers for in-state spending.
As of July, the state film office reports more than 35 productions this year. All the projects have an in-state spending of more than $300 million and created more than 15,000 jobs.
So far, the following movies have been filmed in North Carolina, or will be filmed here:
- Iron Man 3
- Safe Haven
- We're The Millers (The Conjuring)
- The Occult
- Jessabelle
- You Are Here
- Writers
Television productions include:
- Homeland
- Banshee
- Revolution
- The Bachelorette
This week, the city of Charlotte approved the purchase of the Eastland Mall in east Charlotte. The mall has been abandoned and the city may turn it into a movie studio and sound stages.
The cost is $13 million and the city is looking for an interested movie company.
