
Greensboro, NC -- Former Weaver Academy drama teacher Leanne Macklin will make her first court appearance August 25th. Greensboro police arrested Macklin Wednesday on charges of having a sexual relationship with an underage student.
Macklin taught in the Guilford County school system from August 2005 to June 2008.
Investigators recieved a complaint on July 1 alleging Macklin had a sexual relationship with a student. On Monday July 21, five warrants were issused for her arrest. She was charged with sexual activity between school personnel and a student. Officers believe Macklin engaged in sexual activity with one student.
Macklin turned herself into police. She was out on bond Wednesday evening.

The school system released a statement Wednesday night. In it they say "the district continues to conduct mandatory criminal background checks on all incoming employees." It also says that "criminal background checks will be conducted on all district employees."
