GREENSBORO, NC -- The Guilford County School System needs to cut $5 million out of this school year's budget.
$2 to $2.3 million needs to go back to the state because the school system did not meet the student enrollment projections of 72,219 students. Superintendent Mo Green says the system overestimated by 600 to 700 students.
$2.8 million is due back to the Department of Public Instruction because of a drop in state revenue. Other school districts and charter schools across the state will be required to return funds already allotted to total up $58 million.
