Greensboro, NC -- The woman was killed Wednesday night after being swept away in rushing water created by severe thunderstorms rumbling through the Triad.
Sheriff department officials identified the woman Thursday as Roseanne Marie Minton Tippett,50, of Browns Summit. She drowned Wednesday after fleeing from a trooper during an interview.
Investigators say Tippett ran through a roadblock manned by the NC State Highway Patrol. She was rescued by a trooper at the road block. While she was being interviewed she fled and jumped back into the swollen waters of the creek.
The Trooper attempted a second rescue but was unable to locate her. Tiplett's body was found a short time later. The moped that she was riding was recovered Thursday morning.
