YWCA Gets Ready For Girls and Women in Sports Day Festival

GREENSBORO ? The YWCA in Greensboro is getting ready for an action packed festival. Saturday, February 10, the organization will hold the Girls and Women in Sports Day Festival.

The festival aims to teach girls and women that sports and fitness are fun and can be cool. Non-traditional and traditional sports will be part of the day long action. Fencing, wrestling and rock climbing are just a few of the non-traditional sports. Basketball, soccer and other more common sports will also be played.

The festival will take place on February 10 in the Fleming Gym on the campus of UNCG from 8:00 am ? 4:00 pm. Admission is $20 and includes lunch, t-shirt, activities and tickets to UNCG vs. Appalachian State Women's Basketball Game.

Next month, the fun continues. On March 25, The YWCA will hold the Girls and Women in Sports Awards Dinner at the GSO Coliseum. The event will honor basketball coach Kay Yow as well as others from the community. For more information, on the dinner call 273-3461 extension 0.
