Kernersville, NC -- Something's been growing along South Main Street for the last couple years and it finally bloomed Saturday when the Paul J. Ciener Botanical Garden officially opened.
The seven-acre lot features a welcome center, ballroom, horticulture center and seven different gardens. Currently, workers have 28,000 bulbs on display and they believe the garden will mean big things for the Triad.
"I have a lot of familiarity with public gardens across the United States," executive director Todd Lasseigne said. "They attract millions of visitors every year. And every single one that comes to a community just bolsters the tourism, bolsters the civic pride and the overall standard of living in the community just goes up."
The garden officially opened with a ribbon cutting Saturday at 10 a.m., and behind-the-scenes tours of the grounds followed. Click here or watch the videos on this page to learn more about the center.
