Video: Improve Your Credit Score

Protecting your credit cards.

Greensboro, NC -- Your credit score can range from 300 to 850, and the higher the better.  Every bill you pay or don't pay and every card in your wallet can impact that score.

Consumer Credit Counselor Johnnie Vineyard says it's important to keep up with what's in your credit report.  He suggests going to annualcreditreport.com and getting a copy of each of the three credit reporting agencies reports.  You can get a free report once a year from each agency, and Vineyard says it's a good idea to spread these out over the year.

If you see an error on your credit report, you can dispute it, but expect it will take some time to change.

You can find a lot more help at Consumer Credit Counseling Services of Greater Greensboro, a division of Family Service of the Piedmont.
