Greensboro, NC -- Want to know if these warm temps are here to stay or if a frosty chill is headed our way? Greensboro's own "Woody the Groundhog" will make his Groundhog Day meteorological prediction at the Natural Science Center of Greensboro on February 2 at 10:00 a.m.

The old legend says that if a groundhog comes out of his burrow on February 2 and sees his shadow, there will be six more weeks of winter. If he doesn't see his shadow, then spring and warmer temps are on the way. While other groundhogs may rely on their shadow alone, "Woody" will use his up-to-date Weather Center, as well as his weather sense to come up with his scientific prediction. Visitors are invited to come out to watch this memorable annual prediction by Woody the meteorologist and root for the prediction they want! Rumor has it that the most enthusiastic cheering by the crowd might sway him!

The Natural Science Center is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Animal Discovery hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Groundhog Day is included in general admission to the Center: $8 Adults, $7 Children 3-13 and Seniors 65+. Members and children two and under are free. For more information, call (336) 288-3769.
