Jamestown, NC -- You don't have to have a child in a local school to help out your local schools.

One way to help is donating Box Tops for Education.

You can find them on many products, including General Mills products.

Millis Road Elementary School in Jamestown is one Triad school seeing success with the box tops program.

Joanna Isaacson, a parent and the school's box tops coordinator, said Millis Road Elementary recently received a $1,895.40 check from General Mills. That money is from what the school collected in box tops and from shopping at the Box Tops for Education website.

The check the school received the same time last year was for $632.70.

With the money raised, they were able to buy new technology for the classrooms like projectors for the white boards along with hand-held remotes the students can use to answer questions that show up on the board.

The school encourage you to drop off Box Tops to your local elementary and middle schools.
