Greensboro, NC -- AchieveGuilford, a community based commitment to the educational success of all children in Guilford County, announced it has been approved as an emerging member by the national organization STRIVE, which asserts that cross-sector community participation and a cradle to career vision in education will help every child succeed.

AchieveGuilford's emerging member status will allow it to tap into STRIVE network expertise, programs, and resources that can be brought to bear on specific educational challenges in Guilford County.

"We are thrilled to be a part of the STRIVE network where the concept of collective impact - the idea that wide scale social change can only take place when the entire community is committed - is at the core of our mission and supports our designation from STRIVE as an emerging member," says Skip Moore, Co-Chair of the AchieveGuilford steering committee & President of the Weaver Foundation.

AchieveGuilford Co-Chairs, Ann Busby and Nathan Duggins, go on to say, "AchieveGuilford uses existing resources from our partners to target the needs of every child so they have the support they need to succeed along their learning journey."

"STRIVE is nothing short of excited on where AchieveGuilford is with its work in Guilford County," says Jeff Edmondson, STRIVE Managing Director. "Our recent analysis of AchieveGuilford's core attributes and foundational pillars are proof positive that it is moving in the right direction to support the success of every child cradle to career. We are pleased to have them join our national network as an emerging member as we work together to build their unique civic infrastructure to promote what works for children."

"Guilford County Schools is proud to be an AchieveGuilford partner as we work together to promote academic achievement and strong character development within our schools and communities," says Maurice "Mo" Green, Guilford County Schools Superintendent. "We congratulate AchieveGuilford and feel confident that its STRIVE membership will help enhance the great programs already taking place in and out of our classrooms, as well as the growth of our students' capabilities and understanding of how they can make a difference now, tomorrow and in the future."

AchieveGuilford completed a rigorous assessment of community assets before joining the network as an emerging member, which included measurement of a shared community vision, evidence based decision-making, collaborative action and sustainability.

Guilford County is the first in North Carolina to attain emerging member status as it aligns resources so that students are successful at each critical point in their education and prepared for the challenges of postsecondary education and future careers.
