Greensboro, NC -- Diane Summerville has three very different sons.  They have different passions and excel in different things.  When it came to choosing a school, one just wouldn't do, so she turned to Guilford County Schools Magnet schools.

She found a lot of choices: 52 magnet and choice schools for elementary, middle and high school students. The International Baccalaureate program at High Point Central was perfect for her oldest son, now a senior at UNC.

Guilford County Schools describes the IB program at Central as "for high school students who want a rigorous high school curriculum. They take the most challenging classes high school students can take and are able to earn an IB diploma if they complete the program fully. They can earn college credit for their classes if they receive certain scores on their IB exams."

Summerville middle son goes to Greensboro College Middle College. "High school juniors and seniors attend class on the campus of Greensboro College. The program is designed for students who are capable of honors-level academics but who may have felt lost in the traditional school setting. The college campus, small class sizes and supportive relationships help students excel and move on to higher education. The school particularly prides itself in forming a close-knit family-like atmosphere between students and staff." (GCS)

Ryan, her sixth grader goes to Brown Summit Middle School Center for Advanced Academics. "The Brown Summit Middle School Center for Advanced Academics offers an advanced academic curriculum for some of the district's top middle school students. It is a small school that has competitive academic requirements in order for students to attend. Students are offered a challenging curriculum that will prepare them to successfully continue advanced studies through Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate or college courses in high school. Many of the students who attend Brown Summit Middle go on to attend one of Guilford County Schools' early college programs: The Early College at Guilford or the new STEM Early College at NC A&T." (GCS)

Ryan loves school, and tells his mom often how glad he is that he chose to go there.  Watch his interview with the Good Morning Show's Rosemary Plybon.
