This week, inspectors found major violations at five Triad restaurants.
Sonic inside Hanes Mall at 3320 Silas Creek Parkway in Winston-Salem earned a 90, after two bonus points. An inspector found cigarette ashes in the kitchen, roaches around the kitchen sink, and told the restaurant employees to clean up.
Inspectors also found violations at McDonald's on Jonestown Road in Winston-Salem. The restaurant scored a 90.5 after two bonus points. An inspector reported that food was open and uncovered in the freezer, and employees weren't wearing hair restraints. The inspector said this wasn't the first time they were warned.
The Bistro on University Parkway in Winston-Salem earned a 91.5 after two bonus points. An inspector said the dishwasher and refrigerator weren't working properly and the buffet didn't have sneeze guard protection.
In Greensboro, Seoul Garden on West Market Street was docked points after an inspector found zucchini, soy sauce and beer stored on the floor. The restaurant scored a 90.
In Burlington, John's Food Express on North Church Street also earned a 90. According to the inspector, an employee handled raw chicken livers and then handled cooked food items without stopping to wash their hands.
A number of restaurants received triple-digit marks this week.
