Greensboro, NC - We hear it all the time... buy local when you can. When it comes to food, you're supporting local growers and keeping money right here.
Lowes Foods is bringing back its Locally Grown Club, a program that was successfully introduced in 2011.
The Locally Grown Club runs for 13 weeks and offers customers the chance to purchase a variety of fresh, local produce in advance.
Lowes Foods Locally Grown Club will feature six to ten varieties of assorted produce in each box that may include zucchini, yellow squash, green peppers, blueberries, sweet potatoes, cabbage, cucumbers, tomatoes, peaches and many other seasonal items. Customers will receive twelve to thirteen pounds of produce each week. Your produce box will include farmer's history, location and great recipes to help them enjoy the contents of each box.
You can participate for the whole season, 6 weeks, 3 weeks or buy a single box. They simply sign up through www.LowesFoodsCatering.com, pay in advance for their subscription and pick up their box each Saturday at the store.
The Locally Grown Club will run between June 2nd and September 8th. The cost per box will vary depending on the amount of weeks that the customer purchases:
6 or more weeks: $25.00 per week
3 - 5 weeks: $27.00 per week
1 week: $29.00
