Preventing Falls

Greensboro, NC-- In Guilford County alone there are 13-hundred trips to the emergency room each year because of falls, with an average of 65 fatalities.

Those are some pretty staggering statistics but there is a way to help. Leigh Shelper, injury prevention coordinator for Safe Guilford has information on an awareness event.

Christina Weaver, a physical therapist with Cone Health has tips to help us stay safe.

The event is called "Standing Together To Prevent Falls" and its tomorrow from 9:30am to 1pm at the Christ United Methodist Church at 410 n. Holden road in greensboro.

There will be free screenings for balance issues, osteoporosis and strength training sessions.
