Undated -- The Associated Press is reporting pranksters or even pedophiles are using virus-infected PC's to remotely store and hide their child porn on other people's computers.

You may end up with kiddie porn on your computer and might not know it until the police come to your home.

An Associated Press investigation found cases in which innocent people have been branded as pedophiles. It can cost those accused hundreds of thouands of dollars to clear their names.

In 2007, Michael Fiola was suspicious after an Internet bill for his state-issued laptop showed he used the computer more than 4 times as much as his colleagues. A technician found child porn on the PC.

Fiola was fired, endured death threats, and spent $250,000 on legal fees to clear his name. An inspection finally showed his computer was filled with computer viruses which caused the laptop to visit 40 child porn sites per minute.

Pedophiles can use the viruses to their advantage. They can simple store child porn on someone else's computer to view later on safely.

Prosecutors say people are using the virus as an excuse. But so far, the virus defense doesn't seem to be letting real pedophiles get off the hook.
