Christians Pressure Duke University To Change Blue Devils Team Name

Durham, NC -- A Christian group says calling Duke University sports teams the"Blue Devils" is offensive.

"If the team were named the Blue Nazis would that be ok?" asks Mark Dice, spokesperson for The Resistance, an international Christian organization that is behind the efforts for a name change, "There would be outrage across the country, yet naming a team after the Devil is ok?"

"Numerous college sports teams have faced opposition in the past for using ethnic names which were offensive to segments of the community, and this is no different," explains Mark. The Resistance is urging Christians to contact the University to voice their support for a name change.
