
Winston-Salem, NC -- Bikers hopped on their hogs for a ride from Winston-Salem to Cary. They're honoring Lawrence Joel, a Winston-Salem man who earned the medal of honor in Vietnam. Riders paid tribute at the Lawrence Joel Coliseum. One of Joel's comrades came from South Dakota for the event. He says Joel saved the lives of several platoon members as 1,200 North Vietnamese soldiers attacked their platoon. Bikers will participate in events honoring troops and veterans this weekend in the Triangle. Parades to honor Veterans: High Point - Sunday starting at 3pm. The parade will proceed down Main Street.
Winston-Salem - Saturday starting at 10am. The parade will proceed down Fourth Street. A soldier who just returned from Afghanistan is the Grand Marshall.
