Stokesdale, NC -- The call came into 911 around 6:30pm Saturday. The caller said a man had disappeared into the lake. Rescuers were sent and they were able to pull the man's body out around 8:00pm.
Sunday investigators identified the man as Chris McMichael, 27 of Stoneville. His body is being sent to the State Medical Examiner in Chapel Hill.
Rockingham County Sheriff, Sam Page says the man was hanging out with friends when the incident happened. They are still investigating whether or not alcohol could've been a factor in this drowning.
Witnesses told deputies McMichael and another friend were at the end of Plummer Road in Rockingham County swimming as early as 4:00pm in the afternoon.
