Sedalia, NC -- An armed man who held a woman hostage Sunday, is now in police custody. Deputies are questioning Tommy Maness in connection with the incident.

At 4:41pm, a father called 9-1-1 to report a man believed to be holding his daughter hostage, at gunpoint, on Burlington Road in Sedalia. Deputies blocked off Burlington Road between Knox and Sedalia Roads.

A S.W.A.T team was also on hand to help surround the house. At some point deputies say Maness moved the victim outside. She was able to get far enough away so deputies could move in.

Investigators say Maness, who reportedly had a .22 calibur rifle, was without the gun at the time of his arrest and trying to escape into the woods. It was all over around 7:30pm.

Chief Deputy Randy Powers told WFMY News 2 that Maness may have recently been released from prison. Charges in this most recent case are still pending.
