High Point, NC -- The Triad Beepball team is playing host to the 2009 North Carolina/South Carolina tournament.
The Triad team consists of players from Greensboro, Winston-Salem, Thomasville and High Point.
A regulation game consists of six innings. Due to the fact that not all players are legally blind every participant except the pitcher are required to wear blindfolds.
A ball then transmits a beeping sound, once the ball is hit into play, the batter runs to either first or second base. The bases are randomly chosen by the umpire. The bases also transmit a beeping sound. If the player touches the base before the outfielder fields the ball the the hitting team is rewarded a run.
Unfortunately, the Triad team will not be playing in the championship game, that honor goes to a team from Raleigh, and another from Charlotte.
