Memorial Service Held Tonight For Killed Cyclist

Greensboro, NC -- The family of a cyclist killed while riding his bicycle Saturday night will host friends tonight for a memorial service.

David Sherman, 55, was killed Saturday night when he was hit by a SUV on North Church Street near the intersection with Highway 150.

The driver of the SUV didn't stop, but police found a Silver Dodge Durango matching the suspected vehicle on Monday morning. The vehicle was found at a home on Moir Mill Road.

Police say charges are pending against a person of interest, but those charges haven't yet been filed.

Sherman leaves behind a wife and two grown children. He was also a violinist in the Greensboro Phil Harmonia.

His funeral will be held Wednesday at 6:30 pm at New Garden Friends Meeting. The inurnment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to the Greensboro Symphony Orchestra or New Garden Friends Meeting.
