Greensboro, NC -- This weekend is Homecoming weekend for students and alumni of North Carolina A&T.

The festivities started this morning with Doctor Maya Angelou speaking at the university's fall convocation. Angelou spoke about how things have changed over the course of time in our nation. Students, faculty, and members of the public packed the auditorium.

A&T senior Dexter Mullins says Angelou's presence made his last homecoming even more special. "It's really a privilege and honor to have someone as world renonwned as Dr. Angelou come to our convocation, especially for this homecoming, its my last one. It's a nice change from what we usually have, we have speakers but this it something really different, I think a lot of students really appreciate having somebody of such caliber here."

The Reverend Jesse Jackson was also on hand for the event. He spoke to students in A&t's School of Business and Economics.

This morning's convocation was just the beginning. Several of the university's events, including Saturday's parade and football game, may affect Greensboro traffic and travel plans. To see the full schedule of events, and how it may affect your plans, click here.
