Greensboro, NC -- Starting Friday, Greensboro Police will have checkpoints across town looking for tinted window violations.
In North Carolina, it's illegal to have your front and side windows block 35% or more light.
Extra tinted windows make it difficult for the driver to see. Last year police said there were 42 accidents where this was a contributing factor.
Officers in marked and unmarked cars will be searching for questionable window tints using light spectrophotometers to measure the tint transmittance.
A violation can cost the driver up to $290 in fines and court fees.
